We bought this land to try something else...
In East Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦
We believe the future of mankind is in co-creating communities
An exciting vision
An eco-project 🌱 in 36 acres of land in Noel Shore, Nova Scotia. We are a team of designers, engineers, data scientists, gardeners & kind humans who are passionate about using sustainable technology, combining old and new ideas, to improve the lives of humans TODAY rather than waiting for tomorrow.
Noel Homestead is:
A social enterprise, an ecovillage in the making, a permaculture project. A place of healing and meditation, a place of inspiration, reflection, and a place of retreat. An aspiring intentional community and demonstration project, experimenting our way toward a vision of ecologically sustainable living while supporting one another and celebrating the everyday joys of slow living.
Our Goals
-
Financial stability 💰
As a social enterprise in a capitalist system we use fiat currency issued by the Canadian goverment. Our main goal is to reinvest any excess revenue generated from sales back into Noel Homestead to further its mission and social goals.
-
Self-sustainability 🍑
Our second goal is to produce commodities, meaning growing our own food, use renewable energy sources like solar or wind power, design our own machines and make our own tools, distill our water and build green homes.
-
Replicability 🌱
Our third goal is to share the abundance. By solving the challenges while maintaining open source copies of data, processes and resources to ensure consistency across redundant components. Sharing with the 🌎!
It takes a village 🛖
Support the shift towards cooperation, stewardship, and slow living. We love teaching people about permaculture, technology, growing healthy food & so much more.
Our challenges
1. Sustainable Housing
- How can we maintain and expand our sustainable housing offerings
- Find eco-friendly high quality building materials that are locally available.
- Integrate the community in Noel and beyond, helping each other thrive
2. Clean Energy
- How can we produce our own clean energy and be self sufficient
- Develop new technologies, including biomass, wind and solar
- Contribute to the Nova Scotia Power Network grid
3. Lean Manufacturing
- How can we become a small but highly efficient manufacturing hub
- Grow, process and share an abundance of healthy nutritious food
- Be an integrated logistic example for local supply chains that others can replicate
Inviting light back to Noel takes time, patience and oh so much work (and love 💗)
Masterplan
To create a multi-generational 👴👪community that enables a way of life that’s socially, financially, and environmentally sustainable.
